چکیده

Guest editor Toshio Fuchigami discusses the history and current status of organic electrochemistry in his editorial. Three years after invention Voltaic pile 1800, Petrov Russia published a paper on electrolysis alcohols aliphatic oils. A year that, Grotthuss Lithuania found that diluted solution indigo white could be readily electrochemically oxidized to blue. In 1833, Faraday discovered Faraday's law, one later he hydrocarbons formed by an aqueous acetic acid salt. Unfortunately, not identify products. 1849, Kolbe electrochemical oxidation carboxylic dimeric alkane, known as electrolysis. From end 19th century first half 20th century, various processes exemplified reduction nitrobenzene aniline have been investigated. Organic was also developed along with discovery new electroanalytical techniques such polarography, which Heyrovský Shikata early 1920s.1 1964, Baizer highly useful industrial process for hydrodimerization acrylonitrile. Since then, development electrochemistry, particularly electrosynthesis, has markedly advanced incorporating types reactions, modern synthesis, physical chemistry. addition, cyclic voltammetry related assisted understanding kinetics mechanisms electrode last decade century. This period is renaissance electrochemistry. The 21st ecological electrosynthesis expected typical green chemistry because it does require any hazardous reagents produces less waste than conventional chemical synthesis. At novel paired phthalide p-t-butyl benzaldehyde had industrialized BASF Germany, they consider most promising synthetic process. These facts prompted electro-chemists well chemists make great efforts develop systems order achieve sustainable fact, number successful electrolytic date, illustrated this special issue. Thus, we currently second integrated field including only but materials chemistry, electronic devices, catalysis biochemistry, medicinal environmental I sincerely thank all authors their contribution issue, containing excellent 30 personal accounts informative 5 record reviews. appreciate Dr. Dinesh Talwar, Managing Editor Chemical Record (Wiley-VCH) complete

Special Issue on Recent Advances in Flexible Automation

Flexible Automation as a topic of research has been around for at least a half century. In the late 70’s, flexible manufacturing cell/systems (MFC/MFS) started playing pivotal roles in modern industry, in particular automobile industry. However, the journey of going from a theory or vision to an art or reality did not end there and then. In the last two decades, flexible automation has taken on...
